Zedtech new Griffin Surfski is here
First they launched the Dominator in March 2009, merely a cleaner & meaner version of the Epic V10, and now they have lauched the Griffin, also a long distance ocean racing ski.
The Griffin is based on Zedtech´s multisport/ocean racer kayak Python and measures only 590 cm. That makes the ski 68 cm shorter than the Dominator, 50 cm shorter than the Epic V12 and 35 cm shorter than the Fusion from Nordic Kayaks… The Griffin is just 10 cm longer than a ILS Spec Ski… But it looks like almost all ski manufacturers makes shorter and shorter ocean racing skis now…
Anyway, the Griffin looks like a fun & fast racing kayak if you ask me, and must be a perfect allround- ski for e.g. multisport athletes and Euopean sea conditions.
The seat position is 3 cm lower in the Griffin compared to other skis on the market and according to Zedtech the seat position puts less pressure on the back.

The Griffin measures 44 cm in width, while the Dominator as well as the Epic V12 measures 43,5 cm. The ski is said to be more stable than the Dominator/V10/V12 because of a more flatter rear hull, and Zedtech says that it even makes the ski quicker in the start when catching a wave.
Zedtech tested a Griffin prototype in rough conditions at the Round Madeira Race in August 2009. After the successful race (the ski actually won the race!) they descided to add more volume to the front deck. That way the ski would be able to handle rough water and upwind heavy sea conditions even better. And now it is here – the Zedtech Griffin!

Global Surfski 
Intressant utveckling med Nelo som höjer sitsen närmare ICF-måtten och Zedtech och Nordic Kayaks som sänker sitsen. Bägge riktningarna har klara motiv för sitt agerande även om jag håller tummarna för att det blir Zedtech och Nordic Kayaks som får ut flest för då gynnas surfskipaddling som breddsport som allt fler kan klara att hantera!

Hej, NK har inte sänkt sitsen, det är något som Björn T lämnade som en möjlighet, i verkligheten är sitsen 35 mm över botten och fötterna 10 mm över för att få en positiv sittställning. Jämfört med en icf racer är det förstås lågt men kanske lite högre än de flesta surfskis. Eftersom Fusion är lite stadigare än tex V10 (även med aktuell sits höjd) så fanns det möjlighet att sitta lite högre.

Då finns det kanske marknad för en Fusion+ för oss som inte är uppväxta i en ICF-kanot…

Fusion är redan + och tänkt för en som inte är född i en racer. Har haft flera som fått agera testpersoner under framtagningen bla en person som bara har paddlat lite havskajak, han klarade att paddla utan att välta, efter 5 min kunde han sitta still avslappnat med paddeln i knät. Han klarade dessutom med en kort instruktion att klättra i från vattnet. Detta betyder förstås att det finns skidor med högre toppfart men det är modeller som inte så många paddlar avslappnat när det verkligen brallar på och som dessutom inte är så enkla att klättra tillbaka i som det i bland kan låta.
